The Punjabi University was founded by the former President of India Dr. S. Radhakrishnan in the year 1962. Around 274 colleges are affiliated with Punjabi University. The institute has a total of 6 regional centres with 12 constituent colleges along with 9 campuses and 65 teaching or research departments.
